The Gallery Barbara von Stechow, situated in the Westend of Frankfurt, was founded in 1995. The gallery specializes in contemporary paintings and sculptures and organizes about ten exhibitions per year.
The focal point of the gallery is to promote young artists, especially graduates of the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Frankfurt (Städelschule), such as Justine Otto, Chunqing Huang, or Cristina Herradas Martín. Barbara von Stechow is, among others like Udo Kittelmann (Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt a.M.), Frank Mußmann (Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach a.M.), and Daniel Birnbaum (director of the Städelschule), a member of various jurys, which award scholarships to artists like the Ermenegildo-Zegna-scholarship, or select works of art for the charity auction Junge Kunst mit Zukunft, organized by Ernst&Young in favour of the Städelschule and the HfG Offenbach.
Susanne Auslender, Bruno Feger, Walter Schembs, and Daniel Wagenblast represent sculptural art in the program of the gallery. Other important artists of the gallery are Maren Flößer, Uschi Lüdemann, Kaya Theiss, and Gerd Winter. Moreover, the gallery provides an advisory function in questions of acquisition and collection and equips public and private buildings with works of art. Nationwide the gallery contributed in designing public places and urban planning objects.
The gallery is open daily, except Sundays and Mondays from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays until 6 p.m.
