Short Bio:
Citpelo, born in 1982 in a squat in West Berlin and grew upis a child of his time. Rebellion and punk werethe motto of his early years, fuck future! A serious illness robbed him of his physical integrity and his great dream! Due to the loss of his life's dream, came the listless life condemned in the world to convert without having something to find .... enjoy celebrations, the world, a life of excess, could only fill it for a while. His conventional career he made it clear that I am not. Citpelo freed from the shackles and devoted himself to the true fulfillment of art. He developed his own style of Mixed Martial Art His sculptures are made of cardboard collected, flyers and boxes and handicrafts form the first level of his work process. With light and shadow, they are staged and subsequently banned in photographs. The last part of his work is the processing of the photographs with graphics programs. The degree of change varies from plant to plant, representing the diversity of his art style.
Concept or discourse:
Citpelo redefines the term “free artist” by moving effortlessly in a wide variety of genres. Land art and shadow art characterize his work. Photography and collages play an essential role and paintings and drawings round off his work. Citpelo's works are versatile and address the dissolution of reality and the play with reality. They create a bridge into a world that is presented to the viewer but will always remain out of reach: his photographs show expressive character faces that are separated from reality by colorful, futuristic, sculptural masks. His photographs are characterized by strong facial expressions and extraordinary contrasts. Black and white and dark and colorful. Eccentric and extravagant. Aggressive and graceful. The surreal masks that the portrayed people wear turn their innermost beings outward and represent the struggle for the inner conflict that moves the human being. At the same time, they separate the viewer from the person depicted, so that this person remains a mystery that one is always trying to fathom. The shape of the abstract masks from Fleyern & Foto's own work runs like a common thread through Citpelo's work: as a mask in the photographic portrait or as a ghostly shadow that Citpelo makes use of in Landart: The shadows of power that the Berlin artist projected onto the Chancellery symbolize the obfuscation of the present and the shadow that it ultimately casts on us. In this way, the artist shows a controversial and critical side of his art, which forces today's viewer to self-reflect. In his project "Flowering the Streets", Citpelo shows his gentle side - a contrast to the rest of his work, which makes it equally typical. »DIVAS« describes a series of fashion and acting icons from Greta Garbo to Marilyn Monroe. The artist combines their classic poses with his typical abstract color structure and thus removes the icons from their time and transports them into his own, yet distant world that seduces the viewer. Citpelo is an extraordinary artist of his time, who with his work creates a creates a uniform disparity - a contrast that he programs in his work. Text was created by A. Ackermann, art historian
