Moksha Kumar is an art writer, artist, archivist and art historian who graduated with a BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, New York, and then completed her MFA in Art History from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She is the founder of ‘A Moxie Tale’ – an innovative archive that champions the artists of South India while showcasing their ingenious concepts (2021). She worked as the Editorial Executive for Artery India writing ten articles per month, for two years. I also produced and wrote scripts for video content for the company’s social media account, actively taking on their post scheduling and digital promotion.

Talks and lectures

She created and executed an entire installation for the new UtopianDystopia festival in Kochi in 2022. She has had a solo exhibition of her works at the CICA Museum of art in South Korea in 2021. She has been a part of the show Metatopia: Aisthesis Lab in collaboration with the Wrong Biennale. She has also written extensively for Arts Illustrated, a pan- India arts magazine as editorial coordinator; and was also commissioned by Ocula Art advisory to add to their Indian artist profiles (Soumya Sankar Bose and Sahil Naik). Her dissertation for her Masters was set in Kolkata and documented houses that were set to be eventually demolished. They were also classified in terms of their stylistic elements and features, leading to a change in the umbrella term Art Deco, to Kolvicto Deco (Kolkata Victorian Deco). She was also selected for the COCA (Center for Contemporary Artists) project based in Italy, for her research and archival documentation of Kolkata architecture (2020) She has curated ‘In Search of a Common Ground’ with artist collective ‘Transgress’ and also Untitled III and Untitled IV in collaboration with Priyasri Art Gallery. Actively involved in various art projects around the world, such as Sing for Hope Pianos, the Prithvi Theatre Festival, and the St+art India project, Moksha was also a part of the Space 118 residency program in 2017. Her creative prowess is not limited to the arts as she has also worked as an illustrator, designer, social media manager, curator, art writer, and art consultant.
