Ioanna Neophytou
In the last ten years, I try as hard as I can to be creative in the construction of visual experiences. I work as a visual artist and director of creative documentaries and I am based in Athens. I have studied in Athens School of Fine Arts, I continued my studies in Contemporary Art and New medias at the university Paris 8 and now I have a PhD research in visual arts in Marseille.
In 2014, together with Amelie Durand, we have proposed to the international student contest «Crossing the borders. Perspectives on the First World War» the creation of an exhibition, where archives would be transformed in art pieces. Our proposal won the first award and as a result, we presented the exhibition “Les œuvres de mort/prises au hazard/ se passent des commentaires”, in the the National Archives in Pierrefite-sur-Seine, Paris, from the 1 October 2015 until the 3 November 2015.
As an artist, I have participated in many group exhibitions and international festivals, mentioned indicatively: “Et on essayait d’y être”, Montreal, 2018, “SIMUL_ ensemble”, Enghien-les-Bains, 2018, «Restrictions Apply», London, 2016, «Rooms 2016 – Kappatos Galleries», Athens, 2016, «Arteries Project», Limassol, 2013, «Santorini Biennale of Arts”, Santorini 2012, «Sotiria Plan: Memory and disease in visual arts», Athens, 2010. Since 2011, I collaborate with the artist Spyros Charalampopoulos presenting many performances in local and international festivals such as «I am NOT Tino Sehgal», London 2016, «12 Wagon Festival» at To treno sto Rouf, Athens, 2010, «Itinerant Performance Art Festival», New York, 2012, «Aeschylus Festival», Elefsina, 2012.
In 2017, together with Dimitris Stamatis, we have created the documentary “Painting…”, which was presented in the 20th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival and earned the audience award for Greek films under 50 min. The experimental documentary "The Fairs" is my second short documentary film, a command of the exhibition “The Opposing Shore’’, CCI Fabrika
