Pedro Carneiro Silva

Free Seat is an urban performance-intervention. Pedro Carneiro Silva, a Brazilian pianist, sits at the keyboard in a place of everyday urban life - a square, a busy street, a subway car. Under the "Have a Seat" notice, one or more chairs are placed and headphones are offered. In the midst of the confusion of the city, the earphones allow the creation of an intimate environment. For each person who accepts the invitation, the pianist creates a new song, inspired by that person, the moment and the environment. Ardalan Aram, a German-Iranian filmmaker, records the moment in video and audio, which is latter published. Events of the project have already been held in Berlin, Lisbon and São Paulo always in different spaces. Each new place, with its peculiarities, opens new possibilities for the performance to relate to the space and public. Both Ardalan and Pedro have previous experiences with performance. During his master s degree in Lisbon, Pedro developed the project "O Trampolim de Oiticica", in which he proposed the appli- cation of concepts of performance and fine arts in musical creation. Ardalan studied and practiced performance at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA).
