At first, the gallery exhibited artists of Selbsthilfegalerie Großgörschen 35, an artists´ gallery in Berlin. Soon, the program was expanded and the gallery exhibited figurative art from all over Europe. Painting has always been the emphasis of the gallery´s program: Internationally renowned artists like Volker Stelzmann and Maxim Kantor, who represented Russia at the Venice Biennial 1997 in Italy, regularly exhibit with Galerie Eva Poll. So do G.L. Gabriel and Ralf Kerbach. The sculptors Hans Scheib and Sabina Grzimek and photographers like Michael Ruetz broaden the program.
Since 1988, Galerie Eva Poll has represented Russian artists including Igor and Svetlana Kopystiansky, Alexander Kosolapov and Maxim Kantor.
Galerie Eva Poll has also organized touring exhibitions for represented artists, enabling these artists to be seen throughout Germany and abroad. The painter Volker Stelzman had one-man shows in galleries in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. In Lancaster, Ohio, Galerie Eva Poll presented Berlin – Window into a Changing Europe, and Maxim Kantor´s exhibition Criminal Chronicle was represented by the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennial in 1997, furthering the international prominence of the gallery. Regular participation in numerous art fairs in Basel, Köln, Paris, Madrid and Los Angeles has enhanced the gallery´s international reputation.
In May of 1993, Mrs. Eva Poll was awarded the Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, the Order of Merit of Germany, for her role in the Berlin art scene. Five months later, the gallery celebrated its 25th anniversary with an exhibition of drawings by 53 artists who exhibit with Galerie Eva Poll.
Upon its thirtieth anniversary in October 1998 the gallery will remain a forum for contemporary art and for those extraordinary artists who follow their own paths without the undue influence of trends.
The gallery also supervises private and company collections as well as programs for art in architectural contexts. Furthermore it offers service as an art dealer and art consultant.
