The gallery started in 1970 with Happening & Fluxus, especially with Wolf Vostell, Allan Kaprow, Al Hansen, Robert Watts and Nam June Paik.

The art historian Inge Baecker has set herself the objective of identifying the key trends of 20th century painting and relating them to the older styles.
Her approach: how does art reflect reality? Particularly artists of the actual Russian Avantgarde have also found their space in this programme, which can best be described as Concept and Realism, Neo-Dadaism, Happening, Fluxus and New Music.

A new field of exploration became the New Art from Turkey with Serhat Kiraz, Hüsamettin Koçan and Handan Borütüçene. The gallery has its rooms in the historic house of the Cathedral Master Builder and has further exhibition space in the ancient Roman Tower.
