My work is about the indescribable connections between humans and objects, especially when people are suffering from extremely painful and harsh emotions, which is impossible to tell anybody else about how one feels. Personally, I confess to a “thing” rather than a person in this situation. My work consists of three narrative films, which illustrate what happens to the human around these three objects, and what makes them confess to the objects, why these objects. I did a lot of interviews to know how people deal with extremely negative emotion, there were some unforgettable feedbacks from some “normal people”, who seems to have a good life, have a good family and some good friends. However, these make them even harder to tell others about their feelings when faced with something terrible. Nobody will try to understand and empathize people who live a “not so terrible” life. These feedbacks made me wanted to show how despair and struggling they are. How alienated they are from their friends, families and the society. What they feel and experience. My work has been done in a speculative approach. I speculated all the objects could understand and record humans’ behaviors and emotions. Therefore, the surfaces of the objects are distorted after they recorded more and more behaviors and emotions. The objects made the negative emotions and connections between humans and objects tangible, and became the symbols of the indescribable, hidden parts of humans. The emotion patterns accumulate on the surfaces of the objects are visualized from EEG data. EEG is an equipment which records our brain waves, different emotions cause different brainwaves. These emotion patterns are closely related to the situation to the person in the films.
