EGLE GENES GRUNFELD

I studied art in Brazil at the “Pinacoteca of Sao Paulo”. Getting married very early I came to live in Israel (my husband country). During the years that I raised my seven children I study art and used to paint mostly in my free time Five years ago when my last kid leave home I beginning to work at art in full time. . Until the last ten years I used to paint in canvas with oil and aquarelle. My studies for Master Degree in Women’s studies in the Lesley College- Boston/Tel- Aviv bring me the need to touch again the source of womanhood, to return to the very basic material, to the primal connection with the nature. My aim in my work is to rediscover the very elemental crafts of women around the world in all the past ages, and try to return to the knowledge of generations transferred from mothers to daughters. Knitting, weaving and embroidering used to be a powerful medium for self- expression and communication between women. Using the Nature as a source for work material I create local installations, Trying to translate in Art the voice and feminine language of what surround me. I wish in my works to bring the combination of these sources, to create a feminist language that give honors to the sense of touch, to the sensual and softness of womanhood and to the wonders of nature materials.
