Fanny Jemmely

Since about 10 years, my artistic approach embraces various technics and is rather led by a continuous line of reflections. It focuses on the person and its situation of existing into the “world” . For a long time, I perceived relationships as that the core of this research - relationships that one holds to oneself, the others and the environment. Abstract (interaction with structures, for example) as well as concrete confrontations came in the focus field with them, notions like "situation", "event", and, obviously, "intent". Recognizing the relational realm as actually made out of creative processes, the idea of the "process" itself coupled with the notion of "creation" became essential pivots of my praxis. On a formal level, my efforts lately concentrated themselves on an aesthetic of fluidity, giving birth to organic shapes and papers covered with a pattern I used to call "fluxes". Present in many drawings, it often stands for something invisible (frequencies, waves, music, affects, libido, money transactions, intents, etc.) On a more theoretical level, each particular production coming out of my artistic practice became a trial to demonstrate some elements, components, aspects, triggers of those so called creative processes. Therefore, this tautologic research presents a meta level investigating the existence of any individual as well as artistic activities. Inquiring on those intricate processes obviously implies to look at their breaks, slackenings and reverses, leading as well to observe what happens in the spaces in between, between in and out, this inter-space where art, considering its production and reception, somehow appears. Under the metaphysical and metapsychological levels, some primitive political issues can be seen as involved into this artistic investigation, while, after all, it is linked with the reappropriation of my own agency, from this trial, many further attempts to trigger or to reveal other’s agency, the agency of the spectator.
