IRENE GUERRIERO
Irene Guerriero was born in São Paulo, Brazil. Graduate from The School of Art Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP). Have attended numerous painting workshops and was an assistant in Art History courses at MASP- Museum of Art in Sao Paulo and in tours to art gallerys in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and London.
Colour and nature have always been the main subjects of the work, which consists mainly of paintings in oil or acrylic on canvas, or paper. Living in a tropical country, colourful views and intense light have had a significant impact on the work, which is inspired by nature and natural surroundings. The psychedelic movement of the 1960s, which she saw as a child on television, cinema and music have always inspired her.
The creative process starts with an external stimulus through observation of the world around, specially the brazilian rainforest, from then on solutions will be found during the process from an unconscious dive that will build dream-like images, from the inner world to the realm of painting.
Since 1993 she has been participating in exhibitions. In 2005 she received the first premium in I Salão Nacional G. Matteo – Casa de Portugal, in 2013 participate in the contemporary art fair PARTE, in Paço das Artes, São Paulo, in 2017 she participated in Pfiser´s exihibition in New York, NY. In 2018 in Artbox Project New York 1.0 also in NY and in the Coletiva Eixo Contemporâneo in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
