Painting is the union of matter and gesture that points to the emotional part of who contemplates it. Its goal is hitting and it does so through the color penetrating into the depths and filling with meaning the subject. The strong colors are like slaps, disruptive emotions that often confuse and stun. I find in matter painting and in the use of pure color the most direct way to express these feelings.
