Luis Feito

He was born in Madrid in 1929. He worked as a teacher at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in 1954. Two years later he moved to Paris in order to study the avant-garde movements; while in the French capital he came under the influence of automatism and material painting. His early works are in the figurative style; this was followed by a Cubist phase, until finally culminating in abstraction. Towards 1962 he introduced the colour red into structures and circular motifs, which in the 70s gradually gave way to the total geometrisation of colour. After a spell in Montreal, he settled in New York in 1983. His work can be found in private collections and in major museums worldwide.
