With a background in education, Andrew Stooke founded the pioneering Oliver Holt Gallery gallery. The gallery was outward facing, hosting residencies and commissioning new outcomes brokered through engagement between artists, learners and communities. The Gallery's work tested the limits of what is teachable and knowable in art. Now, working as an artist based in London and Shanghai, his research deploys multiple strategies to identify, to expose, to confront, and to challenge, the formation of structures sanctioning cruelty, oppression, and violence.
