Empowering Marginalised Artists Through Generative AI: GenAIRT Presented in Berlin

On 3 December 2025, the Organization for the Democratization of the Visual Arts (ODBK) presented the Erasmus+ project GenAIRT – Empowering Marginalised Artists with Generative AI at the Brauhaus Neulich Saloon in Berlin, Germany. The presentation was led by ODBK’s Director, David Hinojosa, and brought together artists, educators, cultural professionals, and members of the local creative community.

GenAIRT, funded under Erasmus+, aims to bridge the digital divide in the arts sector by providing marginalised adult artists with access to Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools through an inclusive, self-paced online course and a dedicated digital gallery. The project focuses on artists with fewer opportunities, including those from migrant backgrounds, economically disadvantaged communities, and underrepresented groups in the cultural field.

During the Berlin event, David Hinojosa presented the project’s objectives, development process, and key results. He highlighted how GenAIRT responds to the growing influence of AI in creative industries by ensuring that access to emerging technologies is not limited to privileged groups. Instead, the project promotes digital upskilling, creative experimentation, and greater visibility for artists who often face structural barriers.

Participants were introduced to the GenAIRT online course, which equips artists with practical knowledge of Generative AI and encourages hands-on experimentation. The digital gallery was also showcased, featuring AI-assisted artworks created by course participants. The gallery serves as an inclusive platform that amplifies diverse artistic voices and fosters professional opportunities.

The discussion that followed the presentation focused on the role of adult education in promoting inclusion and innovation within the cultural sector. Attendees expressed strong interest in how similar initiatives could be replicated in other learning contexts and communities.

The Berlin presentation marked an important dissemination milestone for GenAIRT, reinforcing its mission to democratise access to digital tools and to strengthen the participation of marginalised artists in Europe’s evolving creative landscape.
