Felix Droese and the OMNIBUS FOR DIRECT DEMOCRACY

Joseph Beuys was clearly an outstanding art personality sacrificing himself for higher causes such as art democracy.

No surprise that Beus became an inspiration to artists of our times. One of his students Felix Droese participated in the project called “ The OMNIBUS FOR DIRECT DEMOCRACY “. He said  “Here, we have a work of art built on the principle of a motorcar, i.e. a ‘self-propelling vehicle’. In this age of great acceleration, the auto has become the means of locomotion for anyone. But what is special about this BUS is that it is a means of locomotion for everyone. A so-called means of public transport. Thus, when it drives through the countryside as a work of art, it becomes a public work of art.”

He understood the urge for a stronger exchange between the art world and the everyday world, for more democratization and for providing access to groups remote from art. This way of thinking is close to European Union values such as equality, respect for people of all nations and color. That is what modern democracy should be. It should be accessible for everyone and open equal opportunities for everyone.
